The advantage over conventionally configured master cylinders is that the ISR radial master cylinder is more efficient, giving increased power and better feel. Weighing in at just .97lbs (440g) this is not only a super light master cylinder the design is very clever as well. It has fingertip control to allow adjustment for both reach and lever ratio, no tools needed. It can even be adjusted while riding the bike. The two piece design makes lever replacement a 20 second operation. The remote master cylinder design also has the benefit of being interchangeable for brake or clutch use permitting use of all matching parts between the two therefore less spares are needed.
One of the most innovative and practical features of this master cylinder is the range of adjustment is 5:1 to 3.8:1. In layman’s terms this means that when set to the minimum (3.8:1) you have to move the lever further to get the same effect but there is a lot more sensitivity in the feel of the clutch.
The adjustable lever is carried out by hexagonal adjuster on the lever; moving the adjuster clockwise lowers the ratio and counterclockwise increases it. There are no positive stops allowing any ratio between the extremes to be selected, giving maximum adjustment capability. Total adjustable range of 1.10" (28mm). Adjustment can be easily carried out while riding using the index finger.
This ISR master cylinder is constructed using different "modules", allowing for various parts to be swapped after crash damage without having to swap/bleed the entire system. This makes for quicker and less costly repairs. We keep a full line of spares on hand for just this purpose. Download the spare parts catalog here.
All ISR master cylinders use a standard banjo bolt fitment for clutch lines of M10 x 1.25mm. Single clutch line banjo bolts are available for race applications or a single banjo pressure switch for street applications. Banjo bolt fitment is parallel to the handlebar. Use only DOT 4 brake fluid.
